Despite a poor economy farm equipment sales are up
Despite a sagging economy, it appears that the tractor industry is thriving as the agriculture industry continues to make purchases after a strong year.
At the 93rd annual Pennsylvania Farm Show, about 270 commercial exhibitors showed their products to the public and discussed the results of a year that was arguable one of the best in some time.
"We still have things to deliver yet that were ordered from last year," Harold Lenker, a salesman for a John Deere dealership in Halifax, Pennsylvania told the Associated Press. "The pipeline isn't empty yet, and the ag business is actually pretty decent at the end of the year. I had more people spending more money than they did in a long time."
In addition to the traditional farm equipment, this year's farm show also had some state-of-the-art items like a recreational trailer with living quarters and a flat screen TV, which would set the buyer back about $60,000, according to the AP.
The state's farm show runs through January 17th and is expected to draw more than 400,000 visitors and see about 6,000 animals and 10,000 competitive exhibits
