John Deere announced on June 23 that it has upgraded the John Deere 870G LC model of the G-Series excavator line with an EPA Final Tier 4 diesel engine and other new features. The fuel-efficient engine is compliant with emissions standards and provides 512 horsepower.

The 870G LC Excavator also has cooled exhaust gas recirculation, a diesel oxidation catalyst, and selective catalytic reduction. Its improved piston design allows the excavator to burn particulate matter in the cylinder, eliminating the need for a diesel particulate filter.

For even more productivity and efficiency, the John Deere 870G LC is compatible with several smart features, including the Powerwise™ III engine/hydraulic-management system. This allows operators to manage engine performance and hydraulic flow more easily on the job.

"The 870G LC meets rigid emission regulations, enabling operators to handle the demands of a job site without sacrificing power, reliability or ease of operation," said Mark Wall, excavator product marketing manager at John Deere Construction & Forestry. "Our largest excavator model also boasts more hydraulic flow than its highly productive predecessor and is ideal for loading haul trucks in a quarry, feeding a hopper and working in tough rocky conditions."

New cab features include a refined monitor, spaciousness, and quietness for ultimate comfort during operation. John Deere WorkSight™ with Ultimate Uptime can also be added to the John Deere 870G LC, which provides operators with remote diagnostics, telematics, and programming capabilities.
