John Deere announced on May 14 that it has added the 210L EP and 210L to its L-Series lineup. The tractor loaders have several features designed to boost the efficiency of earthwork, roadwork and land clearing operations.

"These machines aren't just modified backhoes,” said Brian Hennings, product marketing manager of backhoes and tractor loaders at John Deere Construction & Forestry. “The 210L EP and 210L are purpose built for tractor loader owners and their unique applications. We're seeing these machines being used more and more outside the West Coast. Their versatility sets them apart on the job site."

The 210L comes with a Final Tier 4/EU Stage IV PowerTech Plus diesel engine, while the 210L EP has an IT4/Stage III B John Deere PowerTech E engine. Both of the machines have four-speed PowerShift transmission, which allows them to change directions quickly.

The 210L EP and 210L can also be equipped with a canopy or a four-season air-conditioned/heated cab. The tractor loaders also have enhanced lighting for better visibility, including two front spotlights, two rear and two side floodlights.

The new hitch design of the machines allows users to position the box blade over the pile for more productivity. Dual-tilt hydraulic cylinders also provide improved three-point side-to-side hitch control of rear attachments.

For servicing purposes, there are same-side ground-level service points to speed up daily maintenance checks. A two-position tilt hood gives users ground-level access to the engine for troubleshooting.
